This annual report by YouGov and GambleAware explores the usage of, reported demand for, advice, support and treatment amongst those who gamble and those affected by another's gamblling in Great Britain, based on a survey of over 18,000 adults taken in November 2022.

Topics covered

  • usage and demand for treatment and support for
  • gambling harms across Great Britain gambling participation and problem gambling rates
  • impacts on people affected by other's gambling
  •  usage and demand for treatment and support

Key findings

Gambling participation remained stable at 60% of adults, but there was a shift towards non-lottery forms of gambling. Stigma remains a key barrier to seeking help, especially for those with severe issues. The cost of living crisis had mixed impacts, with some reducing gambling while others increased it to try to make money. Promoting awareness of support options and addressing stigma could help more people access needed help.
