Gambling harm local area data profiles (2022

These data profiles are produced by OCSI to bring together data estimated from the Annual Treatment and Support Surveys 2022-2024 using Multilevel Regression and Post-stratification (MRP) modelling and provide a picture of gambling-related harms, usage and demand of treatment for gambling harms and estimated fiscal costs from gambling harms at the local area level across Great Britain.

They are designed to support local decision-makers, commissioners, service providers, researchers, and community organisations to better understand patterns of risk and need in their area, and to inform prevention, treatment, and support activity.

Profiles are available for:

Local authorities
Parliamentary constituencies
Regions/ Nations

Each profile combines data from different sources to present a consistent overview of gambling harm and related factors. Depending on geography, profiles may include information on:

Extent of gambling harms in the adult population
Usage and demand for either treatment, support or advice for reducing gambling harms
Estimated Fiscal Costs of ‘Problem Gambling’ (PGSI 8+)
Social and demographic context, to support interpretation and comparison

Where possible, figures are shown alongside regional or national benchmarks to help place local patterns in context.

Notes on interpretation

Data availability and quality vary by indicator and geography
Differences between areas may reflect reporting practices as well as underlying need
Small-area figures may be subject to greater uncertainty

For these reasons, caution should be used when making direct comparisons, particularly between small geographies and over time.

For each year the data profiles are grouped into zip files for Parliamentary Constituency, Local Authority and Regional / National data.

For example, if you wanted data for Holborn and St Pancras parliamentary constituency from 2023, find the '2023 data profiles' section below then click 'Constituencies F to H'. You will then need to unzip the file on your computer to read the individual documents.
