Has gambling taken more than your money?
Has lying become an automatic habit?
Do you wear a mask to cover-up internal despair?
Green Shoot Recovery is a 7-week course designed for people seeking sustained recovery through desire to stop gambling. The potential participant would have an informal chat with a lived experience facilitator to explain the course outline and answer any questions. The course is communicated through a workbook on Microsoft Teams each Sunday from 11am –12pm with a catch-up group on Mondays at 7pm. Ad hoc one-to-one sessions can be arranged in the case that a participant is away and has to miss a session.
The seven weeks of the course cover the following themes:
Week One: Awareness
Week Two: Acceptance
Week Three: Honesty
Week Four: Challenging Your Behaviour
Week Five: Purposeful Living
Week Six: New Thinking
Week Seven: Ongoing Maintenance
On completion of the course, an option is given to join an aftercare peer support group of previous Green Shoot participants who hold weekly topic group meetings. This also gives participants access to a host of Breakeven tools and services such as peer-led one-to-ones, women-only groups and, if needed, rehabilitation.
